Doppelgänger is an Italian style aperitivo, albeit made by us, in Battersea and is England’s answer to Aperol! Made with a flash of artistry and 19 hand-selected botanicals on a base of English wheat spirit, it’s a truly unique creation.
It makes an incredible Spritz (we have two favourite recipes, see below) and it also works as the bitter in a Negroni, especially when paired with our Renegade Gin!
On the nose, you’ll find bright citrus and hints of aromatic roots. Its bittersweet flavour is led by citrus and rosella (hibiscus) with earthy, herbaceous undertones and the finish is irresistibly moreish. And as the fantasy art label suggests - your playful side just might make an appearance after a few sips, so you may as well “Unleash your Doppelgänger”!

British made, Italian style
Doppelgänger Aperitivo is a British made, Italian style aperitivo. Made with a flash of artistry and the amalgamation of 19 hand selected botanicals on a base English wheat spirit.
Inviting citrus and hints of aromatic roots on the nose, its bitter-sweet palate is citrus and rosella (hibiscus) led, and underlaid by earthy and herbaceous flavours created from mountain roots and herbs.
The primary botanicals used are sweet orange, bitter orange, ruby grapefruit, rosella (or hibiscus) and gentian.
The production process employs a combination of three methods: distillation, maceration and tincture creation. We take about 3 weeks to produce the liquid which is then diluted and bottled at 20%.
Doppelgänger is proper moreish makes the perfect afternoon Spritz in the sun with friends, listening to great music.
Musical inspiration and label art
The inspiration behind this one stems from the primary occasion in which the liquid is drunk - Aperitivo. Or that time after lunch and before dinner when you are in the garden, by the pool, in a remote beachside location, having a few light and savoury drinks at the beginning of a big day/night.
Aptly, the music genre of choice at these locations typically is House Music and that conjured up images of fun and fantasy. So we chose fantasy art as the appropriate label artwork.
The label was designed by our Founder, Braden, and captures the two sides to everyone, naughty and nice. It depicts a goddess with one side representing a Eve from the Garden of Eden and the other side representing a Medusa style creature.
The naughty side tends to come our after a few drinks so when aperitivo turns into an evening session things can get a little bit hairy! There is a common phrase that when one has a few too many they claim any such "loose" late night antics were carried out by their "Doppelganger".
